3M Woodlands Plant

The 3M Singapore Woodlands Plant was at one time the largest 3M Plant built, with a total floor space of nearly 53,000 m2. This state-of-the-art manufacturing facility started production in October 1998, and manufactures custom flexible circuits, sintered abrasives, electronic adhesives, surface mount supply carrier and cover tapes, abrasive belts for fine finishing applications, and converts clean sanding discs for automotive applications for customers throughout Asia, USA and Europe.

The Woodlands Plant was one of the first existing industrial buildings in Singapore to be conferred the Green Mark Award (Gold) by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) in 2010. Apart from green features such as a heat recovery system, the recognition was achieved with 3M's own environmentally friendly products, such as 3M™ Window Film. With its focus on manufacturing excellence and quality, the Plant won the Singapore Manufacturing Excellence Award – Operational Excellence in 2007, and the Singapore Quality Award – Singapore's highest accolade for business excellence – in 2003. The Plant also has certification in ISO 9001, ISO 13485, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.

3M Tuas Plant

The 3M Singapore Tuas Plant was built in 2009 with a total floor space of approximately 52,210 m2. This advanced manufacturing facility started production in December 2009 with its first machine producing multilayer, extruded films for solar panel backsheet applications. It currently manufactures products such as solar backsheet films, N95 respirators, optical and window films, and traffic safety systems for customers in Asia, Europe and USA. The Plant has certification in ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 13485 and OHSAS 18001.

3M R&D Centre

The vision of the 3M Singapore R&D Centre is to be a major growth driver and leader in new products and technology platforms. With growing research and development work in Singapore, 3M has established two R&D centres at our Woodlands and Yishun sites.

The focus of the R&D Centre @ Woodlands is on multi-disciplinary research in the areas of electronics, optics, circuitry, adhesive and coatings. This enables 3M to leverage our knowledge in electronics as well as our vast analytical and weathering capabilities. This facility is able to provide predictive and material analysis for many different industries.

The R&D Centre @ Yishun houses a R&D Technical Service Laboratory, an integrated lab that supports marketed products from all business units. The highlights of the lab are a versatile physical testing lab and an open-concept multi-purpose area for industrial customer workshops, such as for 3M Electrical Markets, Communications Markets and Automotive Aftermarket divisions.
