The success of any painting project depends on making sure you have the right tools at hand. That includes selecting the ScotchBlue™ Painter's Tape that will work best for your project. This Tape Selector Chart makes it easy.
1. Review the surface you need to mask (this is not the surface you are painting). Keep in mind it can take up to 30 days for paint to fully cure and harden. Be sure to use ScotchBlue™ Painter's Tape Delicate Surface if you will be masking on fresh paint (at least 24 hours old).
2. If more than one tape is recommended for a surface, consider removal time and adhesion level needed to help determine the right tape for your project.
3. UV resistance: Choosing a tape with UV resistance is important when painting interiors, especially if you're masking glass or surfaces that are exposed to sunlight (such as the trim around windows). All ScotchBlue™ Painter's Tapes are UV resistant.
4. Masking on fresh paint: It can take up to 30 days for paint to fully cure and harden. If you're painting more than one surface in a room (such as walls and trim), chances are that you will be masking on fresh paint. The wrong tape can damage your brand new paint job! ScotchBlue™ Painter's Tape Delicate Surface is specifically designed for use on fresh paint (at least 24 hours old).
*Once you select a type, please test compatibility before use, as results may vary
