Because of their selective solvency, excellent materials compatibility, low surface tension and other important characteristics, a number of Novec fluids have proven to be ideal for the deposition of PFPE and other lubricants and coatings on hard disk drives.
Novec fluids are also outstanding cleaning solvents, used for removing particulates, fingerprints and light oils from many parts of the drive, including MR heads, HGAs, suspensions and media. The low surface tension of Novec fluids allows greater penetration than conventional cleaning solvents, providing outstanding precision cleaning performance on both metallic and non-metallic parts – even in tight spaces and complex configurations.
