3M™ Battery Cathode Materials

3M offers proprietary cathode materials that have excellent electrochemical properties and thermal stability for use in rechargeable lithium ion batteries. These products can be used in lithium battery applications including mobile phones, laptop computers, power tools and a variety of handheld and portable devices. These high performing products are an excellent alternative to Lithium Cobalt Oxide and their improved thermal stability in their intended applications should enable battery makers to design safer batteries.

3M™ Battery Cathode Materials

3M™ Battery Cathodes are mixed metal layered oxides comprising of Manganese, Nickel, and Cobalt. They have improved thermal stability and up to six times less Cobalt for reduced price volatility when compared to the industry standard Lithium Cobalt Oxide. 3M offers two cathode products - BC-618 and BC-723. 3M has developed these proprietary cathode powder formulations with precise control of structure and compositions tailored for both energy and power applications.
